My October

Temperature: A mean temperature of 11.5C, this October was warmer then my October mean of 11.1C (8 years of records). The warmest day was the 31st with 27.2C, only 0.1C warmer then the previous day, both with west to nor'west winds. Coldest temperature was -1.8C on the 19th following a southerly with hail showers the previous day. It is coldest October temperature I've recorded to date.

Wind: This October's wind run was 6152km, the second windiest October I've recorded. My October average is 5657km. The windiest October I've recorded to date was 2006 and the least windy 2002 with 5014km. The windiest day was 382km on the 3rd with a southerly. Prevailing wind direction was north east recorded 48% of the month, south 30%, north 7%, south west 6%, nor'west ,west and south east 3%.

Rainfall: Average rainfall for October at my station over 8 years is 74mm. This October I recorded 78.8, close to average. The wettest October I've recorded to date was 2006 with 120mm and the driest was October 2004 with 35.8mm.

Barometer: The highest pressure for the month was recorded on the 1030.9hPa on the 28th, the lowest 973.8hPa on the 14th with an average pressure of 1005hPa. Comparing this to 2006, the only other year I have barometer records for where the average pressure was 1009.5hPa. Humidity: Lowest humidity was 21% on the 7th with a nor'wester.
