My August

Temperature: A mean temperature of 7.2C, August 2007 was slightly warmer at my station with a mean August temperature of 7.0C (8 years of records). The warmest August I've recorded was 2002 with a mean temperature of 8.0C. The warmest day was the 26th with 19.8C with light winds tending NE in the afternoon. The warmest August temperature I've recorded was 23.8C in 2002 with nor'west winds. Coldest temperature was -3.5C with a frosty morning on the 15th. The coldest August temperature I've recorded is -4.9C on 3rd Aug 2000 and the 16th Aug 2001. (Note: old temperature sensor in operation at the time, reading low)

Wind: The monthly wind run of 3677km is the lowest of the 6 Augusts I have records for (2002 - 2007). The windiest August was 2004 with a wind run of 5654km. Prevailing wind direction was north east recorded 41% of the month, south 36%, north 10%, south west 8%, nor'west 2% and west 2% (1% other directions) Maximum gust was 49km/h from the south on the 12th.

Rainfall: The monthly total was 42.2mm, the second lowest total for August at my station, The lowest August total is 15.4mm in 2005. The highest being 172.4mm in 2004 with a maximum daily total of 73.4mm on the 6th Aug 2004.

Barometer: The highest pressure for the month was recorded on the 15th with 1040.6 hPa, the highest pressure I've recorded at my station to date. The lowest 985.8 hPa on the 11th.
