My May

Temperature: As discussed in the media, May 2007 was the warmest May since records began as reported by NIWA and the warmest May I've recorded. My mean temperature for the month was 11.6C. The highest temperature was 22.6C on the 1st and the lowest was 1.5C on the 30th. No air frost (air temperature below 0C) was recorded. 2005 is the only other May had no air frost recorded. The next warmest was May 2004 with a mean temperature of 10.5C. The coldest May I've recorded was 2001 with a mean temperature of 7.5C.

Wind: The monthly wind run of 3977km is near the average of 3922km for the 6 years I have wind data for. Prevailing wind direction was north east recorded 61% of the month, south 14%, north 8% and nor'west 6%. Maximum gust was 50km/h from the west on the 21st. The windiest May I've recorded is 2004 with 4483km of wind and the least was May 2003 with 3185km.

Rainfall: The driest May I have recorded with just 27% of my May average of 77.1mm. The wettest day was the 2nd with 15.6mm. The wettest May I've recorded was 2006 with 159.4mm.

Barometer: The highest pressure for the month was recorded on the 8th with 1032.0hPa, the lowest 995.4hPa on the 16th. Mean pressure was 1013.9hPa, compared to 1013.6hPa in May 2006, the only other year I have barometer data for.
