My January

Temperature:
With a mean temperature for the month of 15.8C, this January was below my average of 16.4C. Despite being a grey and damp month, it was warmer than 2000, 2002 and 2007.
No air frost and no daily maximums less than 10C were recorded. The warmest day was the 2nd with 33.3C, the only day to reach at or over 30C where my average for January is 2.  My record maximum is 37.2C on the 8th January 2009. My coldest January temperature to date is 3.5C on 15th Jan 2003

There were 30 days where the temperature was at or over 15C, 18 days where the temperature was at or above 20C, my average is 20. There were 8 days at or over 25C, my average is 9, Jan 2006 and 2009 hold my record of 15 days at or over 25C.

Wind: (Records from 2001)
The monthly wind run of 6220km is 107% of my January average of 5840km making this January the second windiest I've recorded, the windiest being 2008 with 6326km. The least windy to date was 2009 with 5415km . The highest gust was 61km/h from the north north west on the 2nd.

Rainfall: (Incomplete records for January 2000 and 2002)
January had 63mm of rain over 11 days, a little more then twice my average of 30.7mm . The wettest day was the 22nd with 17.5mm.
My driest Jan was 2007 with 15.4mm.

The average pressure for the month was a little below my January average of 1011.4 hPa with 1010.4 hPa. Maximum pressure change of -21hPa on the 3rd is close to my January average of 20.

Strong nor'west winds early in the morning. A southerly change about 11am took the temperature from 33.3C to around 21 in 2 hours. Sunny in the morning, becoming overcast from mid afternoon. (Temperature reached 30C by 10am, the only other day in my records to reach 30C by 10am was 8th Jan 2009 when the temperature reached 37.2C)
